Volunteer to Help New Neighbors
Floridians have each other’s backs when help is needed, and we want you to know it’s easy to lend a helping hand if you want. Groups like the Zebra Coalition reach out to LGBTQ youth while the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay welcomes anyone in a personal crisis that needs help. Other groups like Feeding South Florida focus on caring for those suffering food insecurity while Partnership for Strong Families helps protect children in abusive situations. Wherever you see yourself making the biggest difference, Florida has a place to let you help.
Volunteer to Help the Environment
You’re moving to Florida for a brand new environment, but you can also be part of keeping it pristine. Organizations like the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are eager to add more names to their volunteer lists. Conservation Florida is also a strong networking center to find ways to help keep Florida green and clean. Local groups like the South Florida Water Management District also make it easy to give back in your region. There’s no use sitting back – in Florida, you can be part of the solution.
Volunteer When Disasters Strike
It’s not uncommon for Florida’s sunny weather to occasionally give way to a stormy day, but fortunately you can be a part of keeping everyone safe in your new home state. National programs operate in Florida, but there are a multitude of more local ways to pitch in. Become a member of the Community Emergency Response Team or join Florida International University to learn how to be of service during a disaster in Florida.
